Year of the Snake
2025 is the Year of the Snake and is one of the 12 years in the Chinese zodiac cycle.Characteristics such as wisdom, intuition, and charm prevail. The Snake symbolizes intelligence, elegance, beauty, and mystery. Calm and intuitive, wise and thoughtful, charming yet reserved. A symbol of transformation and rebirth due to its ability to shed its skin, it is revered by many as a creature of wisdom and insight. I see this, The Year of the Snake, as a time of introspection, planning and pursuit of personal growth.
Year of the Dragon
In my ongoing series, "Year of the...", I've dedicated years to exploring the visual symbols of the Chinese zodiac. The Wood Dragon, being the animal of 2024, embodies magnificence, confidence, and ambition, accompanied by strengths like Luck, Courage, and Success. It is interesting to note that the Dragon is the only mystical creature in the Chinese zodiac! This vertical image captures a vintage Dragon Kite acquired from my first visit to Beijing in 2005. A rediscovery found in a cloth covered box after nearly two decades, inspiring and symbolizing the spirit of this, the Year of the Dragon.
